Blacksburg Virginia Events

Every year at the beginning of the Christmas season, the CVJM's traditional craftsmen's market is held. More than 80 stalls showcase local artists, craftsmen and artisans from all over the country, as well as merchants from all over the world. In addition to the traditional craft fairs in Richmond and Richmond Park, in autumn and winter, more than 200 artists and artisans from all over the world have set up their booths and are selling their handmade items, including jewelry, pottery, textiles and more.

Organized by the Cranwell International Center at Virginia Tech for more than 50 years, the fair is attended annually by numerous cultural and student groups and has over 110 countries represented at the festival. We have a huge variety of events in the area and would definitely recommend you to go after your graduation. The areas of Monacan, Moneton and Siouan were reportedly inhabited - by groups of people. In 1718, Seneca agreed to sell the parts east of the Blue Ridge to the Virginia Colony, but the British Crown made the Allegheny Ridge, which separates the Mississippi and Chesapeake watersheds, part of its territory. The colonial legislature of Virginia authorized Wood to claim the territory as his property, as did two Virginia governors who lived there, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

The path to the crest was found in 1671, when explorer Batts Fallam, sent by Wood, reached what is now Blacksburg, Virginia. In 1700, the Seneca from New York and Pennsylvania overran the entire area and drove the other bands out. The expedition followed Stroubles Creek to the mouth of the Wood River, named after Woods' son-in-law William Wood Jr. and his wife.
